This Rocky Mountain bull elk is shown in early summer before the velvet has shed off his stately antlers, but after he has shed his heavy winter coat. Elk are the largest species of deer in America and the Rocky Mountain Elk is currently being populated in the Appalachian Mountains where the Eastern Elk became extinct.
