A BRIGHT SPOT IN THE DOWN ECONOMY

Across the board, Americans are feeling the effects of this horrible economic downturn regardless of their economic status. We have been saddened to see so many of our domestic and foreign manufacturers and suppliers close down completely leading to a snowball effect on the supply of home furnishings and products. We waited for 7 months for lights that were made in China for one project. We have seen huge delays on other orders and some cancelled due to business closings. However, if there is a bright spot in the current situation is the opportunity for American artists, manufacturers and suppliers to ramp up their product development and production.
We recently worked on a large bid for a purchasing company for Planet Hollywood Vegas because their overseas suppliers could not meet their schedule. With overall international sales dropping, the overseas manufacturers have grown unsteady leading to very extended lead times & uncertainty that product will even be delivered at all. This is forcing American buyers to look elsewhere - yes, right here at home. The Planet Hollywood bid was specifically to find a domestic resource that could meet their design, budget and schedule. How wonderful to hear a request for "domestic" products again!!! I quickly combed my resource library looking for North American resources who could handle the large order. I sent out request for proposals immediately to over 12 of our domestic suppliers and submitted 8 bids for consideration. We did not win the bid, but what a great sign that an interest in domestic designed and produced product is heating up again. We feel our work of nurturing our domestic artists, manufacturers and suppliers at Trimble Kelly Studios is paying off. We celebrate sustainable design practices and our American designers and producers. We hope that more of you will as well by searching for and buying goods made right here at home.

Finding domestic products is not as hard as you think. Thanks to our website that celebrates domestic artisans and manufacturers, many find us and send their products to us for consideration. We are blessed to have met hundreds of very creative people and companies that are right here at home. Our goal is find and share with you as much domestically designed and manufactured mountain, country and resort home furnishings as we can.
